Competitive Analysis
Another major component of the competitive analysis was determining the level of web accessibility. In order to provide a consistent baseline rating, Google Lighthouse was used. In a matter of seconds, Lighthouse gave our group a plethora of categories that affected the overall user experience of each website.
Introduction
For a group project, myself and two other students were assigned to create a competitive analysis for Payground. Payground is an online platform that allows users to pay their medical bills on a single website.

Above-the-Fold Information
In website terms, describing something as “above-the-fold” indicates what a user sees upon first loading in on a webpage, without the use of scrolling. This is definitely a specific aspect of web design that I hadn’t considered before taking this course.
Homepages are obviously important, but it’s even more crucial to put the most relevant things at the top. This way, the user doesn’t have to scroll to find the necessary information. Neither our client or their competitors were free from these drawbacks. In the example of one competitor - Cedar - the customer service numbers were all the way down at the bottom of the home page. It isn’t enough to make the page attractive to incoming visitors – it must cater to your audience’s needs.
